How do you get to Mt Cook & Mackenzie?

  • Travel by Plane
    • Although the area has a number of small airports scattered around, they are primarily used for scenic flights & helicopter trips. The closest commercial airports are Christchurch Airport and Queenstown Airport, both around 3 hours’ away.
  • Travel by Train
    • There are no train services to Mt Cook & Mackenzie.
  • Travel by Bus
    • The popular Mt Cook & Mackenzie region is well serviced by a large number of shuttles, buses and tour bus operators. Many operators include the region on their trips between Christchurch and Queenstown.
  • Rent a Vehicle
    • Mt Cook & Mackenzie offers no car rental or motorhome hire opportunities. It is advisable to pick up your motorhome or rental car in Christchurch, Queenstown or another South Island arrival hub before visiting Mt Cook & Mackenzie.
