One of the most difficult parts of an overseas holiday is knowing how much money you will spend on everyday items like food, accommodation and transport. Here we have compiled some helpful information on New Zealand currency, and budgeting for your New Zealand holiday.

New Zealand Currency 

Unit of Currency: New Zealand Dollar (NZ$)
Denominations: Coins:10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2
  Notes: $5, $10, $20, $50, $100
Credit Cards: All major credit cards accepted.
Travellers Cheques: Accepted at many hotels and tourist stores.
ATMs: New Zealand has a large network of ATMs and EFTPOS (electronic funds transfer point of sale) facilities at most shops, accommodation providers and attractions.
Banking Hours: Most banks are open 9.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday
GST: All services and goods in New Zealand are subject to a 15% Goods & Services Tax (GST). Prices are almost always GST inclusive, unless specifically stated otherwise.
Major Banks: The National Bank, Bank of New Zealand (BNZ), ANZ, Kiwibank, ASB, Westpac
Bureau de Change: Bureau de Change and foreign exchange kiosks are located in most major centres.
